Danny Matthews, our ED Discharge Planner, demonstrates compassion, exemplary service, and a commitment to excellence on a consistent basis for our Emergency Department and Asante as a whole. Danny has a positive, upbeat attitude and NO TASK is too big for him. He is always willing to go the extra mile to help a patient or their loved ones obtain the resources that they need. He organizes case management reviews for our patients who utilize the ED frequently and therefore saves the hospital money as well as provides the patients with other, more appropriate options for their care. Danny has been the spearhead for our “ED Care Plan” policy and has encouraged all of our ED Providers to gain access to the Oregon Drug Monitoring website so that we can more effectively manage and counsel these patients. Additionally, Danny has worked endlessly in creating an ED admit order sheet that fulfills all of the requirements for admission.
On his most recent endeavor, Danny has worked to improve communication between our local home health agencies by creating a “Home Health Transfer form”. This form allows these patients’ care to be more proactive instead of reactive…which in turn provides better patient outcomes. This has proved to expedite patient care and decrease any confusion/questions regarding care that these patients have received. Danny is an asset to our ED, he goes above and beyond for not only our patients, but for our community and our hospital as well. He is a wealth of knowledge and someone that does not receive the THANK YOU as much as he deserves!!!
Danny has had his hands in so many different projects, he has gone above and beyond EVERY DAY. He is willing to answer questions for the ED Providers, stay late, come in early, leave a meeting…whatever the ED needs. When he is out of the office we struggle without him…eager for his return. Danny deserves the DAISY Award because he provides exemplary service to our patients, hospital, and our community.
Danny, thank you for being an advocate for our patients and their loved ones, and our hospital…we are VERY lucky to have you!!!
