The next morning Danielle came to my daughter's room and saw she was asleep and wrote her the sweetest note.
Danielle was the nurse on staff taking care of my 17-year-old daughter that came into the ER for a bowel impaction. My daughter is extremely timid and won’t even undress or use the bathroom in front of me, her own mother. So when the doctor ordered an enema my daughter about lost it. Danielle sat and explained the full procedure to my daughter and explained to her all that was going to happen. Her being so open and explaining things and being open about her issues made my daughter not so scared of the procedure….. I know 100% that because of this my daughter let her do the procedure and did not want to leave the ER and go home. I think we may have had to hold her down like a toddler if Danielle hadn’t been there to talk her through it. Modest teens can be the worst about their bodies. During the procedure, she talked to my daughter the whole time and comforted her. My daughter even sat and looked at me and said, "mom, I love her". Later when everything had been done in the ER and the doctors decided to admit my daughter to the hospital she sat and explained the placement of the NG tube that they would be doing. This all eased my daughter and made her less scared of what was to come. The next morning she came to my daughter's room and saw she was asleep and wrote her the sweetest note. And talked to me to see if I needed anything before she left to go home! I woke my daughter up to tell her Danielle had come to see how she was and Danielle told her to be strong and that she was so brave for going through so much. I have worked in healthcare for 30 years myself and I have never experienced the compassion and love from a nurse in my illnesses or my children’s. And believe me, after over a dozen surgeries on myself alone that is saying a lot about Danielle! Her compassion toward her patients and their families is top-notch. Thank you, Danielle! You are a true DAISY Nurse.
