Her mother couldn't really talk but she mouthed what to say back to them and Daniel stayed right with her mother during the calls and read her lips for the family.
Daniel was recognized by a critically ill patient's family. The family member stated that over the years she has been with her mother through multiple hospital stays and doctor visits and she has never seen a team more devoted to their patients. She stated that it means even more now because she realizes with the pandemic how tired everyone must be but they don't show it. She was very impressed with everyone but Daniel in particular. She stated that he broke all of the medical language down into layman's terms where they could understand and was very professional in giving them the facts but letting them make their decisions without judgment or persuasion. She talked about a couple of the last conversations she got to have with her mother via Zoom after she was extubated. She stated that her mother couldn't really talk but she mouthed what to say back to them and Daniel stayed right with her mother during the calls and read her lips for the family. She told me she knew he must be busy but he stayed right there with her mother during the entirety of the calls. She said, "I have thanked him repeatedly but if you see him will you tell him thank you again."
