Cynthia called me "Sunshine" and that made me feel so special.
I came to Touro hospital for a scheduled procedure. I was having an EGD with dilation done due to swelling issues. After the procedure, I went home and ended up back to the ER due to intense pain and the inability to swallow. My esophagus was torn. I was admitted to this unit and Cynthia made me feel comfortable and met my every need. She made me feel like I was not bothering her to call when I needed something.

I have no family in Louisiana, and I was able to share my story with her. She hugged me when I was crying in pain and was always on time with my nausea and pain medicine. She called me "Sunshine" and that made me feel so special. It was very difficult being in the hospital with no family around; my husband could not come up to visit because we have small children that weren’t allowed in the hospital. This nurse made me feel like she was my family and took very good care of me. I was so happy to see her on the two shifts she worked. This nurse is so very special; I'll always remember how she made me feel when I was scared alone in pain. Thank You for all you have done for me.
