Nurses have a reputation for being some of the kindest, most caring, and generous people. They put in so many hours of hard work and study to obtain a career, but add even so much more after the big accomplishment.
Recently, God brought my family and me to a very tall mountain we needed to face. My son, A, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma. This, of course, meant we spent some very long hours in the PICU and here we met Cristina, no doubt a heaven-sent angel from our loving God.
It's difficult for me to try and explain the gratitude I feel towards Cristina, but I must make an attempt. She was definitely everything a nurse should be, but even more, she "cared" for my baby. I mean, really "cared" for A. It was as though my motherly spirit had transferred into a nurse if that makes sense.
During those few days, Cristina watched over A like if it was her own son laying on that bed. Her compassion and love overflowed the room every time she gave him his meds, or checked his vitals, or helped him get dressed.
I am eternally grateful Cristina could be a part of this scary and troubling moment in our lives. If anyone is a DAISY Nurse or even the Best Nurse in the Whole World, it's no doubt, Cristina. She has already won our hearts forever!
