While parking her car at the start of her shift, Colleen noticed that the person in the car beside her seemed lost and disoriented. When she leaned in to ask if he needed help, she noted he appeared weak and ill. She accompanied him to the department he was looking for, then got a wheelchair, helped him from the car into the wheelchair, and to the registration desk. She alerted the charge nurse of the situation to make sure the patient was attended to right away. Colleen did all of this even before starting her shift. Without her help, the patient could have had a poor outcome or not made it into the hospital at all. She is a great mentor and always advocates for the patients.
