With a gentle touch, she found another outfit, styled the patient's hair, painted her nails, and even left her with a stuffed animal.
When Christy handed over her patient to me at the end of her shift, she gave me a rundown of what I should expect. As I listened, I couldn't help but be struck by how exceptional she was as a nurse. The patient was chronically ill and had been in and out of the hospital and rehab for a while. And now, after suffering two cardiac arrests, the family had made the heart-wrenching decision to withdraw care.

Despite their pain, the family had a small request for Christy - to dress the patient in an outfit. But when the outfit they chose didn't fit, Christy refused to let the moment pass without doing something special. With a gentle touch, she found another outfit, styled the patient's hair, painted her nails, and even left her with a stuffed animal. It was a small gesture, but it brought tears to the family's eyes. In that moment, they saw Christy's dedication and compassion shine through.

This experience reminded me of the incredible power of kindness and the profound impact it can have on someone's life, especially during their darkest moments. Christy's actions touched the hearts of everyone involved, and I felt grateful to work alongside such a selfless and compassionate individual.
