The last thing I remembered was someone holding my hand and I am certain it was her.
As a recently retired physician, I am not used to being on the receiving end of medical care. Not being in control of the situation is terrifying.

I just turned 73 and of course, I am aware of my mortality. I used to view it as something other people had to think about. Chelsea was affable in pre-op and took me to the OR where she further explained what would happen. I told her I am Catholic and that if there was a problem and I did not wake to call a priest. I thought her eyes moistened a bit but it could’ve been my own eyes misting. The last thing I remembered was someone holding my hand and I am certain it was her.

One of my worries as an aging adult is how generations change and sometimes not for the better. As long as you are able to retain professionals who show they care through their demeanor and actions, the future of HCA Belton and medicines will be brighter.

I was frightened and she was with me as far as she could go. Thank you, Chelsea and HCA Belton. I’m proud to honor you.
