Casey was always proactive and a step ahead.
Casey was an exceptional nurse for the time I had the privilege of being under her care. Let me start at the end with the specific reasons Casey deserves the honor of the DAISY Award. I've always had easy and enjoyable labors and no issues pushing. That remained the same for my recent delivery. However, what enhanced the experience was the absolute command and confidence Casey had while instructing me when and how long, and overall specific breathing techniques while pushing. In a matter of two contractions, I had a baby! Casey's demeanor and overall skill are a credit to this.

The next day, my physician made a comment about very specific things that Casey did that I was not even aware of that also made my (and her) experience even better. Throughout the day, I never had to push my call light button. Casey was always proactive and a step ahead. She checked on me often, thinking of my needs before I did. She was very attentive to any changes in heart rate and would quickly respond. She also took the time for us to get to know one another on a personal level, which I have often found to be the exception. To learn that Casey had only transitioned to labor and delivery a year and a half ago was shocking! Casey's desire to connect with her patients on an individual level, her incredible bedside manner, and her top-notch clinical skill set would make her the most worthy recipient of the DAISY Award. Not to mention, she stopped by upstairs the next day after she had clocked out to say hello and see what we named the baby. I am so grateful to have had Casey and believe she exemplifies every quality of an exceptional nurse.
