I went in for a scheduled C-section and Candy was the nurse that helped me get settled in and prepped for surgery. This was my first child and was pretty nervous. Candy did an amazing job explaining to my wife and myself the process and step by step what she was doing to prep me for surgery. Candy was understanding and was there for me in a time when I was feeling overwhelmed. You would have had no idea it was the end of Candy's shift. She was so happy and could tell she loves what she does.
Later that night, Candy was my nurse again. I was so happy to see that she was my nurse! It was pretty cold by the window where my wife was going to sleep. Candy noticed this and brought in more blankets and pillows. It was so nice to see her do something for my wife.
That first night was pretty rough for me. Candy stayed with me to help me learn how to breastfeed my son with different positions that would work for me. I still use them to this day! I was also in pain and Candy followed up with me on my pain level every couple of hours. Candy made me feel so at ease and did what she could to make me comfortable and manage my pain.
Candy explained to me in detail what was going on with my healing. At one point I was ready to get out of bed and Candy was there with me teaching me the best way to get in and out of bed in the way that would be most comfortable after a C-section.
I want to take the time to thank Candy on what she did for me and my wife. She was there for moral support, medical support and provided me with the tools to make it through the first night after my C-section and having a baby. She really helped me more than she will ever know.
