Bunty is a true patient advocate. We recently had a patient of Hindi background who was admitted originally from an OSH. He was critically ill requiring TAH placement. As he continued to decline he lost increasing ability to speak English. His dialect was not an option on the translator phone. However Bunty spoke his dialect. He helped with interpretation between patient and staff as his condition declined as well as with the family. When this patient finally passed, he helped with the family to perform cultural rituals that the eldest son - who was Skyped in for participation in the ceremony - would normally do. Throughout it all he provided kind and compassionate care not only to the patient but to the family as well during this difficult time. He allowed for dignity and respect during this patient's last days.

We had a patient implanted with TAH (Total Artificial Heart). He was originally from India but had been living in Richmond 12 years with his wife and some extended family. After a series of CVA's this patient was made comfort care. Bunty stepped in on several occasions to support this family by helping to interpret and honor cultural rituals (Hindi). He came in on days off, assisted in rituals at time of death. He showed compassion and resolve during the family's time of need. I have been touched by his dedication and am honored to work with Bunty.
