Brittany showed the utmost compassion and caring. She took the time to talk to me about my concerns and fears. She made sure my room was clean, no trash on the floor and my linens were clean. She took her time hanging my antibiotic along with making sure to use aseptic technique, being a nurse myself I felt Brittany embodied the true spirit of what a nurse truly is. She made sure my IV sites were intact and pain-free, she took great care when emptying my drains. I had drains due to a colon infection she checked my bandages to ensure no abnormal drainage or odor. Her physical assessment was above par and accurate. What struck me the most was her caring, nurturing nature. She took the time to ensure my safety and well being. She took the time to listen to me to calm my fears. I felt that I was the only patient she was caring for, her integrity kindness and complete focus on me is what I felt made my hospital stay a bit more tolerable. That's what all RNs should strive to be.
