Briana crocheted hats for every BHU patient to have as a Christmas gift.
I would like to nominate Briana for the DAISY Award. Briana started her nursing career in Behavioral Health. She believed that the lessons learned in behavioral health would help her grow into a well-rounded nurse capable of caring for patients during the most emotional times in their lives. This holistic approach to career development is admirable. Since her start with our team, Briana has hit the ground running and has worked to absorb as much knowledge as possible to better assist her patients. Patients have learned that they can trust Briana and that she has their best interest at heart which has led to many patients opening up to Briana about the traumas they have faced that have contributed to them being hospitalized in a Behavioral Health setting.
Recently, Briana did something for her patients that really stood out. Many patients in Behavioral health call the streets home and the holiday season can be a challenging time of year both emotionally and physically. For Christmas, Briana crocheted hats for every BHU patient to have as a Christmas gift. Something to warm their bodies and their hearts. The patients were so touched by this that we are still seeing them with their hats on as they walk through the halls. We even had a new patient admitted the day after Christmas asking if they could have a hat as well. In Behavioral Health, it is often the small things that patients remember. A kind word or gesture goes a long way. Our patients felt "seen" this Christmas season and Briana was a big part of that.
*****
Briana was the nicest and most compassionate nurse I had during my stay. She always treated me with dignity and care. Honestly, she deserves a raise for going above and beyond for me in a desperate time of need.
