Recently Brad cared for a patient with fetal alcohol syndrome who was admitted for increased agitation and aggressive outbursts. The patient required a 24 hour safety companion and occasional doses of Haldol. Taking care of this patient could be quite trying at times, but Brad always took everything in stride. He acted with compassion and treated her as any other patient. She could sense he had expectations for her, and appeared to become very fond of him.

She would often wake up and be unable to fall back to sleep, becoming increasing agitated. Brad went above and beyond with her care by taking her for walks in the middle of the night. One night, a group of nurses greeted her as she approached the desk and she put a finger to her lips and said shh'. Brad reinforced her appropriate behavior and she immediately leaned in and gave him a big hug."
