My wife said that Baylee was energetic, educational, compassionate, and made her feel at ease…super admirable attributes.
I had never been to Martha Jefferson before having our first baby and hadn’t heard about the DAISY Award. But after reading this flyer and seeing the attributes it describes, Baylee 100% fits this bill. We don’t have a specific, Baylee-saved-our-baby’s-life moment. Thankfully, our birth and postpartum weren’t dramatic, which was in large part due to Baylee’s consistency over two 12-hour back-to-back night shifts with us. She did exactly what she said she was going to: bringing “ice gloves” to help my wife with swelling, teaching us some tips with feeding, positioning my wife for reading vital signs, and expertly caring for our greatest baby ever (calming our anxieties about our baby and answering my hundreds of questions)…among others. While we don’t have a single event, we have many micro-moments layered together over the first 36 hours of our baby’s life which build a tapestry of clear passion for serving patients, total empathy for us as new parents (even while not having her own kids! Which is the hardest version of empathy.) My mom independently commented that after visiting she felt we were in “really good hands”. That’s a big statement considering she is a little paranoid and this is her first grandbaby! Trust level with Baylee was sky-high for everyone who met her. Baylee clearly loves what she does and that comes through very clearly. My wife said that Baylee was energetic, educational, compassionate, and made her feel at ease…super admirable attributes. She had the best “bedside manner” and we really believe she wants the best for us as her patients. It is clear that Baylee loves nursing and is in the right field. She is a shining example of how to care for patients well, with dignity and joy, serving them selflessly. Baylee exemplifies everything you want in a caring, knowledgeable nurse, and Martha Jefferson is 1000% better off for her being here!
