Batoul took the time to listen to this patient's concerns and was able to convince the patient to eat and to use the insulin provided by our organization until the patient’s wife was able to bring his own personal insulin.
There have been multiple times when I have answered the phone in Psych Acute Care and a patient’s family member calls in and requests to talk to the Nurse Leader who helped their family member when they were admitted into our unit. In their case, they would be looking for Batoul Salameh. A patient’s family member explained to me that Batoul took the time to listen to their concerns about their family member and helped them better understand how the process of a legal hold works in Behavioral Health. She always goes above and beyond to provide excellent care for our patients.

One month ago, we had a male patient who was refusing to use the insulin provided by our organization. This patient was refusing to eat because he was requesting to use his own type of insulin which was not available at AHGL. Batoul was in the room with this patient along with me for more than one hour. Batoul took the time to listen to this patient's concerns and was able to convince the patient to eat and to use the insulin provided by our organization until the patient’s wife was able to bring his own personal insulin. This specific patient was very happy with Batoul’s approach during that day and he apologized for his behavior during breakfast time. That specific patient was a retired military veteran that was suffering from PTSD.

As a charge nurse, other nurses shared that she's always on top of things and makes sure that every patient and staff is well taken care of. She has such a graceful and positive attitude in the way she leads and no matter how crazy a shift gets, thanks to her, we get through it. Her hard work and dedication to our patients and staff makes our working environment much more manageable. She helps endlessly without even asking with doing rounds, covering staff breaks, passing breakfast, lunch and dinner trays, helping other staff members with discharge and taking the time to talk to our difficult patients. It's with great pleasure to have her part of our team and working with her is a true honor.
