My mother, a breast cancer survivor, suddenly came ill and was rushed into the ER at Hillcrest. She was admitted into the ICU and stayed there for about 3 nights. Her hospital stay was about 2 weeks total, but out of the entire two weeks, we had the honor and pleasure of being cared for by Nurse Ashley in the ICU. She is an astonishing nurse with amazing bedside manner. Whether it's just sitting by us and listening to us cry because we were worried or helping us with anything she possibly could. Not only did she make sure my mom was as comfortable as could but she also made sure I didn't need anything and made sure she let me know of any changes and updates if I wasn't there. I hope you see how much of a wonderful nurse you have.
My son is 8 years old, and he has autism and is very close to my mom, his "mum mum". We talked and explained everything to him about how great Nurse Ashley is and he wanted to give her a token of his appreciation. He wanted to give her a dime he had been saving for quite some time for something special. He said she deserved that special coin for taking such good care of his mum mum. She put it in her phone case and a few nights later I went to 6 tower to check in and let her know how my mom was doing on the 9th floor and she still had that very coin inside of her phone case. It's the little things these nurses can do to make a huge impact on someone's life. She makes me want to go back to school to get my GED and then go to school and become a nurse just like her! She inspires me so very much. Don't ever lose Nurse Ashley! She's exactly what a nurse should be- smart, caring, and compassionate. If I ever have the chance to see her again I'm going to make sure she knows about the impact she had on my life. She is truly inspiring.
