Annette was extremely helpful in caring for a patient in the ER and getting her discharged safely and happily. The patient was pregnant, homeless, and without any family or friends. A social worker did a wonderful job of finding the patient a homeless shelter that took in women with similar situations. The patient was extremely tearful when finding she had a place to go, knowing she didn't have her belongings that were left at another hospital.
The other hospital was called, which is not an easy task, and the patient got her belongings back. It turned out the patient had bins of baby clothing that were incredibly meaningful and important to the patient. Annette also spent time with the patient talking and encouraging her. Annette's calm and clear voice could be heard while helping this new mom. The patient left behind a note. The note read:
"I am so blessed and fortunate to have you all great women, staff, doctors, RNs, and techs. For all you know, you saved 2 lives, one without a doubt will grow up to know he was loved and that he mattered to people who didn't even know his name. I now know that I matter; I am important. Thank you for the genuine push to care for myself and for tough love. Your kind, professional, genuine care showed me light. We are grateful and blessed for San Antonio's Team. Thank you for helping make a patient feel better; the patients are better off due to your care!"
