I arrived at the ER by ambulance. I was "out of it" while in the ER, and then was taken to the ICU a few hours later in bad shape with severe sepsis and septic shock. Three bags of antibiotics and two IVs were ordered. When I first saw my nurse, Anne, in ICU, she looked like an angel. She started working on me with such care and love it was amazing. In my heart, I felt like she was sent to me by God to pull me through if possible. She was with me for two days in ICU. She kept up with everything, including my IVs, making sure my potassium was at a good level. When it was low she knew what to do to bring it back up. I had severe diarrhea and she kept my bed clean with pad after pad and put cream on my bottom to keep it from getting sore. When I would look at her face I would feel better and not as scared. I knew when she was with me I had a chance to get better. I am 77 years old and have been in the hospital and have had plenty of nurses, but she is the best I have ever seen. She is surely a blessing to her profession. She also was so good to my husband. She made him feel better because he was so afraid too. I am home now, still recovering, and I think of her so often. Anne, I am praying the Lord will keep you in his care to take care of other patients like you did me. Thanks, Anne.
