When I think back on this experience, I fondly remember her care. I feel that I was so lucky to have had Amelia as my nurse that night.
Amelia was my nurse the night that my son was born. I had come to the hospital the night before for an induction and had been in labor all day when she arrived. My goal was to have a natural birth with no pain medications. Amelia was very energetic and excited to do everything she could to help me have the birth experience I desired. She was a burst of energy that was much needed after a long day. She had ideas for different positions we could try putting me in to get my labor moving. She was so positive and encouraging through all of my contractions. She even helped my spouse with what to say to me and how to help me work through the contractions.

Eventually, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I needed to get an epidural and have a c-section. I was scared and anxious about both of these things, but Amelia was right there with me through it all. During the epidural, she kept me calm by helping me to breathe through it and reassuring me that I was in good hands. Once we went back for the c-section, she was still putting a focus on keeping me calm and making me feel okay. I will never forget that shortly after getting into the operating room, she leaned in close to me to quietly tell me that everything was going to be okay and that everyone would take good care of me. This was a scary, vulnerable time for me and she made me feel safe and calm.

Although I had never met her before, it felt like I had a good friend by my side. She did so much more for me than she had to and it was obvious that she loves what she does. When I think back on this experience, I fondly remember her care. I feel that I was so lucky to have had Amelia as my nurse that night. I could never thank her enough.
