The crazy thing is that IMCU was so busy but Amber made this patient and her family feel like they were her priority and they were not alone.
I am a nurse in OB and I came in to sit for an IMCU patient. Five hours into my shift my heart was aching for my patient's neighbor whom Amber was taking care of. She was fighting for her life. It hurt my heart to hear the family of the patient beg her to fight and stay strong. Their tears and words of pure fear of losing a loved one brought me back to 2021 when I lost my grandpa the exact same way except I wasn't able to be at the hospital when he passed.

I was sitting in the hallway so I was able to hear everything on IMCU including my patient's neighbor Amber. During such a heavy and difficult time, she provided so much comfort to this patient and their family. She informed them so well of what was going on and what her plan was. She answered their questions, made them feel better, made them laugh, and validated all of their thoughts and feelings. I realized during her amazing care of this patient I was finally getting closure from my grandpa. All the words she said are what I hope my grandpa's nurse said to him and my dad who was by his side. Amber has a heart of gold. Although I am very sad for that family, I am so grateful they were held so dearly by someone who truly cared. The crazy thing is that IMCU was so busy but Amber made this patient and her family feel like they were her priority and they were not alone. That's amazing to me. I wish every nurse was like her.
