After the doctors checked him out and made sure he was ok, Amanda made sure to talk to us about what happened and explain it in a way so we could better understand what had just happened.
Amanda is very good at her job. She takes time and actually works with you instead of pushing you away as some other people do. She’s very personal and proud of the work she does and takes time and shows effort. We went to St. Mary’s Saturday night preparing to welcome our newborn son. We didn’t know what to expect as I’m sure most first-time parents feel the same way. As soon as we got there and were admitted we knew we were in good hands; the entire staff was very helpful and able to put our minds at ease for the time being. That was the starting point of my 26-hour labor. As things progressed and we got closer to meeting our son things became intolerable and I was unable to process what was going on, from the pain and the lack of sleep.

After shift change, Amanda was our nurse; that’s when things got interesting. A few hours later my water had to be broken by the doctor and things progressed rapidly, all of the sudden there were what seemed like 20 people in the room and we heard someone say that they couldn’t find our son’s heartbeat. During this terrifying time, Amanda and E were by our sides coaching us through. Their words and encouragement helped get us through one of the scariest moments in our lives, and we were able to meet our beautiful son. After the doctors checked him out and made sure he was ok, Amanda made sure to talk to us about what happened and explain it in a way so we could better understand what had just happened. We’re forever grateful for the wonderful nurses that did everything they could for us, and the entire maternity floor everyone there went above and beyond.
