She showed exceptional compassion for the staff while not compromising the patient's care and the sensitive nature of being a patient on the behavioral health unit.
Amanda demonstrates the highest level of compassion for both patients and the MCHS employees with whom she collaborates. This was demonstrated from the first time I met Amanda during a site visit during my hiring process. During a particularly challenging situation on the behavioral health unit, Amanda was able to expertly manage a patient who had crossed a personal boundary affecting a member of the healthcare team. She showed exceptional compassion for the staff while not compromising the patient's care and the sensitive nature of being a patient on the behavioral health unit. Amanda pushes for continued growth. She has an excellent sense of eliciting the best qualities in members of her team to improve outcomes for her department. Amanda thinks outside of the box and is so in-tune with the needs of the patients and the staff she interacts with. She seems to never be comfortable with the status quo and always searches for ways to improve outcomes. Amanda's personality, creativity, and work ethic lend to creating an incredible leader. Every project I have collaborated on with Amanda she ensures every voice is heard, that every employee has the opportunity for growth, and frequently elicits strengths in others (even when they may not see it in themselves). I frequently found myself gravitating toward Amanda in improving my own personal and professional goals. She is the perfect sounding board for ideas and is the biggest cheerleader. She respects each person as a person with strengths/weaknesses irrespective of title or length of service and ensures each person feels valued and important. Amanda is the type of person you go out of your way to help because she does for each person that she interacts with. Her vision and enthusiasm are clearly described above, but I can not say enough about how Amanda is able to motivate others in achieving a common goal. Constantly looking toward improvement or what can be achieved next. Amanda was a major factor in why I decided to take a job as one of the inpatient psychiatrists at MCHS Mankato. I was blown away by her in my interactions during my interview process (and her interactions across all departments on interview day) and was excited to work for a company where nursing leadership was so invested in their staff, and their patients, and constantly striving for improvement. I still can not believe how many people she impacts day-to-day. Even today, though we do not interact on a daily basis through our work, I call Amanda if I'm in a bind (yes she seems to be that knowledgeable about everything at Mayo) or need a second brain to think through a problem.
