I have had the pleasure of working closely with Libby over the last 3 years that she has served as the Safety Quality Specialist for 8 South/Central. Libby has been an invaluable asset to our team. She has created a safe and non-punitive culture, encouraging and allowing staff to bring forward both real and potential safety concerns. She has engaged all staff in harm prevention and improvement work, motivating them to achieve better outcomes for our patients. She has mentored many new staff to not only HP Champion roles but many informal leadership roles over the years, helping to create the next generation of leaders. She has helped the rest of our leadership team learn the value of process, improvement work, accountability, and follow-through. She has role modeled how to take feedback herself and in turn adapt her approach, mastering how to give grace when needed while still holding staff accountable.

Libby truly deserves the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. We are very sad to be losing her as a member of the 8S/C team but are excited to see her transition to a new unit and look forward to all she has to offer the institution, as I know she has immense professional promise.
