Alaina Eisenhooth has been a nurse in the NICU for almost three years and it has been an honor to work with her and watch her grow as a nurse. Alaina strives for excellence daily and she goes above and beyond for her patients as well as co-workers. Where there is a sick patient and a nurse that is struggling, you can find Alaina jumping in to help. She loves to be busy and has a wonderful work ethic. Alaina is constantly putting other's needs ahead of hers while ensuring patient safety.
To pick just on example of how Alaina has made a difference in my life or in the lives of her patient's and co-workers is difficult as there have been so many times that Alaina has risen to the challenge and has made an impact on everyone she has met. Alaina does not hesitate to help others, she is the type of nurse that you want to work with and have as your neighbor. She is also the nurse that you would want to take care of your loved one.
Alaina is a patient advocate. She volunteers for projects and helps the unit out whenever she can. Alaina also has moved to different assignments that are difficult to assist other nurses.
Tonight, we had a very difficult patient that was attempting to leave, and he had an EVD in place that it would be detrimental for him to get out of bed on his own. Alaina caught him and went in to help the nurse who was having a terrible night, as both patients in their assignment were not doing well. Alaina and I went in and got both patients situated, that way the nurse could focus on the care that needed to be done, Alaina offered to assume the assignment without hesitation. Alaina is also a great resource person. If she does not know the answer to something, she does her research and figures it out.
Alaina is also passionate about skincare, she has become our skin care champion for the unit and is also pursuing certification in skin/wound care. Alaina helps all nurses in the unit, she makes her rounds and pitches in to help. Alaina is a true team player and a tremendous asset to the NICU.
