When patients come to the ED - they are many times in a very low place. Mr. B shared that he experienced this at times with his wife - but when Aeriel was working - she made everything seem better.
As the administrator on-call, I received a phone call from an individual who wanted to share information about his wife's experience in the ED. He asked if we could set up a time to meet in person, he didn't want to have this discussion over the phone. I scheduled a day and time to meet. Mr. B came to meet with me one evening after he finished work. During this interaction - he shared that he wanted to come and share face-to-face his experiences with the care his wife received in the ED at Schneck Medical Center. Mr. B's wife had a lot of chronic needs. She had a genetic condition that she had dealt with her entire life because she experienced and watched family members deteriorate with the same condition. Throughout the later years/months of her life, he had brought her to the Schneck ED on several occasions.

Mr. B shared that when he brought her to the ED - he would always look for and hope that Aeriel was working. Mr. B shared that Aeriel was extremely caring. He could tell that she loved her job - and that she cared for her patients - all of them. Mr. B confessed that he watched other patients in the ED - and he knew that not all patients were kind. He admitted that it was difficult to care for patients who were many times - negative/angry/mean/and at times violent. When patients come to the ED - they are many times in a very low place. Mr. B shared that he experienced this at times with his wife - but when Aeriel was working - she made everything seem better.

Mr. B stated that he got to the point where he always asked if Aeriel was working. He gave reasons that included the following:
- Quality of Care - He always knew that when Aeriel was working, even if she was not assigned to his wife's care, she was there leading the care and making sure she was well cared for.
- Customer Experience - She was kind and caring. She provided the best care.
- Communication - She listened and made sure that they understood everything that was going on in her care. She also worked with the entire team to be sure that everyone was understanding of the plan and desires of his wife and family.
