Adam wheeled the veteran back to his neighborhood listening to his stories and letting the veteran reflect and talk at will.
Recently, Adam took time outside of his regular assigned duties to comfort a resident on neighborhood 1D at Fort Roots. Adam took the veteran with necessary supplies including a wheelchair, O2 tank, and face mask on a walk. Adam stopped by the canteen and got the resident his favorite drink and then took him outside touring the hospital grounds and down to the lake. They shared stories and spent quality time together. The veteran was excited to see the lake and pointed out all the things he could see and multiple plants. While they were out, they were caught in a sudden downpour where Adam sheltered the veteran with a blanket and makeshift umbrella until the rain subsided. The veteran laughed at how quickly the rain came down and visibly enjoyed the experience. Once safe to return, Adam wheeled the veteran back to his neighborhood listening to his stories and letting the veteran reflect and talk at will. They returned to the neighborhood where Adam reported back to the charge nurse about why his clothes were damp but that the veteran appeared to enjoy the outing immensely. The following day the veteran requested to see Adam so he could thank him for his adventure. Adam provided compassion and adventure to a veteran above and beyond his role as an RN.
