There are so many compliments that I receive on a weekly basis due to Abass's great personable and clinical skills.
I would like to nominate RN Abass Savage for this year's DAISY Award. Please consider Abass for this award, as he exhibits numerous qualities of being a great nurse and advocate for his patients. In the last two years that Abass has been with our organization, he has demonstrated such compassion and thorough care to his patients, and this is evident from the many phone calls I receive from his patients recognizing him for his great dedication to their care. One particular patient comes to mind, Ms. JF. Ms. F is a sweet 81-year-old patient who deals with many health comorbidities, and Abass is her primary RM case manager. Ms. F has called multiple times to report how wonderful and patient nurse Abass is with her. She, unfortunately, is a very sick elderly woman, and when she goes back into the hospital, Ms. F makes sure to have family call Abass to notify him. In one particular hospitalization, Ms. F was really not doing well, and she called to request nurse Abass please come visit her at the hospital. That is how great their relationship is. Abass, of course, always goes above and beyond for her. She really does depend on his caring and compassionate nursing skills when it comes to her health. She has always made sure to let anyone know that she is Abass's patient. Abass has always made it a point to be there for not only her but for all of his patients. Another patient that comes to mind 4$ Mr. S, who recently donated $1000 to RWVN Homecare specifically due to the great care that Mr. RS stated Abass gave him. Patient WB also was so appreciative of Abass and his care. He called in to say this - Patient reports that Abass was the best nurse he has ever had. He stated he was praying for help and the good lord answered all his prayers with Abass. He was so knowledgeable and all-around patient and a great nurse." This particular patient had been diagnosed with Covid and had a hard time weaning off his oxygen. Abass assisted him in easing his anxiety and also providing great clinical care, and Mr. B was finally able to wean off the oxygen and go back to his previous level of functioning. There are so many compliments that I receive on a weekly basis due to Abass's great personable and clinical skills, and this is why I feel that he truly exemplifies what a homecare nurse is and deserves the DAISY Award. And to top it off, Abass is always willing to go above and beyond to help the team care for our patients. He always volunteers on the weekends to help with patients, as well as is always willing to take on extra cases. He truly loves helping patients, and it is evident in the care he gives his patients. He was one of our first nurses to be trained high risk and always was willing to help see our Covid positive patients. I truly am an extremely lucky manager to have had Abass be assigned to my team.
