I have sickle cell anemia, and have been in and out of hospitals the 20 years I have been alive. In the last 3 years, I have transitioned from child care to adult care, and it has been a very difficult transition. All the nurses I have had in my adult care have been very helpful with this, but none of them have stuck out to me as this nurse. Vesna has gone out of her way to not only give me my medication, but also making me feel like I'm not just another patient. When I cried about all the stress I was under, not only did she listen, but she comforted me. Vesna is a great representation of someone who didn't become a nurse because of the money or the benefits, but because she has a true passion to help others. Over my 20 years of being in & out of hospitals and having seen more nurses than someone who lives to the age of 100, she is in my top five nurses. Any time I see her she is smiling and, as a patient, that helps me feel better. Vesna truly deserves the DAISY Award because she is an extraordinary nurse, person, and now friend.
