My brother-in-law was a patient at this hosiptal for two months. He passed away on February 21. Teresa was his nurse for the last couple of days. She was wonderful in letting the family know that he was ready to pass so that we could become emotionally prepared for the inevitable. His wife was across the hall, on the same floor, as a patient as well. Teresa kept his wife informed of his condition throughout because she had surgery herself. On the final day of his life, Teresa saw that his wife and I were both having meltdowns in the room. Knowing that he would die before the end of the day, Teresa called the hospital chaplain so he could comfort us. We were so surprised! It was beautiful! The chaplain's words were so comforting to all of us, my bother-in-law included! He was crying, actually we all were, as the chaplain gave him his final rights and a lengthy prayer at our request. We were so distraught; we would not have thought of calling the chaplain ourselves. He died peacefully a few hours later. When our family got together in my brother-in-law’s room after he passed, Teresa also accommodated all of us there. I believe that Teresa deserves this recognition because her care towards all of us was exceptional.
