We received 2 nominations for this month’s DAISY Winner, Stephanie Rabe. Both nominations came from co-workers:
I recently hosted a surprise birthday party for my mother at a park in Bettendorf. Steph Rabe, who is a Pre-surgical teaching nurse at Trinity Moline, was one of the invitees. During the party, one of the guests slumped over and became unresponsive. Steph quickly jumped into "nurse mode" and took control of the situation. Steph called 911, while coordinating the care of the guest, directing other people at the party as to what to do, and talking with the woman in trouble. When the paramedics arrived, Steph communicated the necessary details, and ultimately the woman (who had now become responsive) was thankfully transferred to Trinity for care.
I have worked with Steph for years, and know she is outstanding in all that she does. I confess, I even recruited Steph to pick up the birthday cake for the party! Little did she know that she would be needed for so much more.
It's always so amazing to me to see our Trinity nurses in action. When you are a nurse, your responsibility goes well beyond the walls of the hospital. You are responsible for the care of the community. The commitment and expertise that nurses like Steph bring with them everywhere they go, is remarkable.
After all of the excitement, Steph jokingly said to me that she is not coming to any more of my parties. I told her. "No, you are coming to ALL of my parties!" Thank you to Steph, and to all of our nurses who remain "on duty" no matter where they are.
This 2nd nomination comes from Stephanie’s nurse manager, Racquel Frese:
Stephanie has been the “backbone” of our total joint and spine excellence programs. She has spent countless hours working to ensure that these programs excel through research, building PowerPoints, and teaching patients.
Her dedication to Trinity, her department, and her patients shines through in everything she does. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that she is taking care of all the details, big and small to make sure that Trinity patients receive the care that they should.
She also is a role model and a resource person for other staff. Stephanie is always recognizing and acknowledging other staff members and volunteers for achievements and jobs well done to make sure that they feel appreciated. She is an asset to her department and to Trinity.
