Skye has been an exceptionally outstanding employee. She is accurate, accountable, and dedicated to patient care. She demonstrates the highest level of quality patient care in the manner she attends to her patient, always attentive of their needs. Skye is the most approachable person on my unit, if a physician or staff has any questions, she's more than happy to help. She is well recognized among staff and physicians for her in depth knowledge and competencies.

Recently, we had a patient on who needed (a specific treatment) on another unit every 1.5 hours. The patient's potassium was at 6.2. Along with this patient, we also had three other patients receiving this treatment on the floor. These patients required treatment four times a day. Skye was the charge nurse for the day, working with two new employees and one registered nurse that day. In order to provide proper care for the first patient, she choose to go to that patient's location every 1.5 hours. Skye also requested the help of a night nurse to help her to ensure that she was able to provide the appropriate attention to her patient. Finally, she discharged one of our other patients on the floor as quickly as possible, in order to bring the patient from the other unit down to our floor, all while having open lines of communication with the physicians. It was very intuitive of her to bring the patient on to our floor so she could watch the patient, while also helping the new employees get acclimated. Skye was able to manage a very stressful situation in a professional manner, due to her years of nursing experience.

Due to the preventative steps Skye took, the patient's potassium came down to a level of 5.2. The physician changed the treatment frequency from every 1.5 hours to four times a day. A huge improvement! She knows the importance of maintaining relationships with both the patient and staff to ensure the best experience for everyone.
