Innovation - during bedside report my nurse pulled up my chart on the computer while they talked about me and my care.

Compassion - She took the time to listen to my concerns and addressed all of them with my doctors, she also checked on me regularly without me having to press the call button -knowing what my concerns were - an example of this is I had severe neck pain and she stayed on top of it until resolved.

Accountability - she came every time I needed her and followed up with every question and she would always come back with an answer. She was a true advocate for me during my stay.

Respect - this nurse gave me two robes to cover all my body parts, she addressed me as Mr. E. and always knocked and waited for a response before coming into the room, she talked to me on an appropriate level respecting my level while still making sure I understood all levels of my comfort of care. She continually respect my dignity and worth as a person not just as a post op patient, lying in a hospital bed is not a respectful place most of the time. She made sure it was.

Excellence - her care was superior - in making me feel like I had control over the care I was given, and was a partner in my care, she included my family. She foamed in and out each time she entered and told me what she was doing or giving me and why.

Shannon is a great nurse and deserves to be recognized as one. I hope I never have to come back - but if I did I would want Shannon as my nurse.
