A note to Ron:

I don't know if you remember me or not, but my dad was your patient about four or five years ago. He had colon cancer and was in the hospital many times before he passed away in 2009, and he had you as a nurse a lot of those times. I am writing to you because I wanted you to know the impact that you had on not only my dad's life, but mine.

You were my dad's and my family's favorite nurse. I appreciate and want to thank you for taking such great care of my dad while he was so sick. You brought joy to my entire family. You were a light! As a fifteen/sixteen year old wanting to be a nurse in the future, I admired and looked up to you. You not only took such great care of my dad, but you also looked after and cared about my family and me. You encouraged me and brought many smiles to my face during some tough times.

Today, I am twenty-one years old and a senior nursing major at Anderson University. I have one more year until I can be an RN and make a difference in others' lives. You inspired me and you still do. You inspire me to go the extra mile for my patient. You inspire me to invest in and care for the patient, as well as the family. When I think of an amazing nurse and someone I want my life as a nurse to resemble, it's you!

Thank you for your inspiration and care. I hope one day I can make as much of a difference in a patient and family's life as you did in mine. God Bless!
