Pamela always cares about her patients. Even on days where a patient has been struggling Pamela does an amazing job at showing respect and dignity to the patient and working to meet the patient's needs as best she can. She can often be seen out of the nurse's station and engaging with patients, many of whom have expressed feeling as though she listens to them and addresses their needs or concerns. Pamela will also support her coworkers and when others ask for her help or support she gives it. She also shows incredible compassion and kindness and if she has something to give or share with another she will do it, I have seen her give up her own lunch to a coworker so that they could eat.

Pam is daily faced with providing nursing care to patients who are aggressive, hostile, uncooperative. She shows compassion in interaction with these patients by offering blankets, food, medications, words of guidance. Pam does not back down in fear when a patient becomes verbally or physically threatening. She continues to offer the same compassion throughout the day. She also demonstrates excellence by exhibiting bravery, skill and knowledge consistently on a daily basis. I am amazed at her ability to handle the most difficult of patients, with a calm, focused goal of showing reverence to even the most difficult of personalities. She exhibits integrity as well, by speaking honestly with the patients, providing them with information that may be difficult to hear, but is necessary for their recovery. Pam is most definitely a wonderful mentor and role model for new nurses in the field of mental health.
