Monica was my oncology nurse. She gave me my pre-surgical class. She explained everything and made me feel so safe and cared for.

After surgery she was also often my nurse in the chemo room. On the first day I went I had no idea what to expect. Monica played soothing music and helped calm me down. When she brought me my pills to take before chemo, she always offered me a lemon drop. She said it helped with the bitter taste. Even when it was time for the actual chemo and she had to approach me all suited up and behind that scary mask, she always managed to talk me through my anxiety. She somehow managed to transmit her big beaming smile from behind that mask. As bad as chemo days were, I always looked forward to seeing Monica.

To this day when I go in for my checkups (now that I am in remission), she still always has a huge smile and a hug for me. I feel so blessed to have been placed in her care.
