Mindy is an excellent roving charge, charge nurse, and staff nurse. She is a wealth of knowledge in the ED and a great resource to me as a Float Pool nurse when I work in to her unit. The staff nurses of the ED and Float Pool know they can come to her with any question and receive advice based on ED standard of care, professional practice, her years of experience, and her knowledge.

Tonight I floated to the ED for the first time in months. There were several Float Pool nurses in the ED, and many things have changed since the last time I have worked here. I asked Mindy many questions throughout the evening, such as how to enter Nursing Standing orders. She walked me through how to put in the standing orders for an X-ray and I was able to put in my own standing orders for Ibuprofen later in the night shift. Not only did she teach me and give me confidence, but I was then able to perform that skill later with a different patient to continue to provide excellent service to the patients and families as a direct result of her teaching and mentoring on the job. How did Mindy continue to create safe care and effective care? By checking in on all of the float pool nurses, ensuring we were up to date with the current practices of the ED, and providing in the moment education and teaching. When I took the time to thank her for always being a great resource to us, she smiled and said "Thank you, but this is just part of my job." She truly doesn't recognize herself as an exceptional nurse and leader, but she is exemplary in how she continues to go out of her way to help each and every one of her coworkers to provide the best possible patient care.
