I consider Mike Radel a great asset to me on the night shift, he has gone above and beyond on many occasions. One incident occurred a couple months ago, we had a woman who was here with a brain tumor, she became quite confused and delirious and somewhat out of control, attempting to leave the hospital. I picked up the phone and called the supervisor, who happened to be Mike, and asked him for assistance and guidance in handling the situation. Within 2 minutes Mike arrived on floor and jumped into action, he assisted me and multiple nurses in calming the patient and kept her from leaving and possibly injuring herself. He acted kindly, his demeanor was calming and reassuring, his support and kindness is not forgotten and has not gone unnoticed.
Last night I had a couple of patients who were not doing well; we were busy and Mike was making rounds, saw the situation and proceeded to assist with calling the swat team. I sometimes forget the great assets we have and attempt to do myself, he was here, saw what was needed and jumped into action, I didn't get a chance to thank him, but would like to do so now, Thanks Mike!
Mike's kindness, wisdom, and ability to think and act quickly do not go unnoticed, I love that I can bounce thoughts and ideas and can ask for suggestions from him.
