I work in the Antioag Clinic. I cardiac-arrested while at work. If it were not for the quick thinking and response of Maureen Sawyer, I may not be here today. I spent 9 days in the hospital an am just getting back on my feet. Although I do not remember the event, I have been told that Maureen hopped right in and blocked out the ensuing chaos to give me effective CPR. Her ED background was a huge plus that day! I am very grateful to all that cared for me during this difficult time, but Maureen will always have special place in my heart. The DAISY Award is great way to show her how appreciative my family and I are. There is no other candidate that can compare to Maureen and her action on that fateful day.

I have known and worked with Maureen for years. She has always been kind, compassionate & respectful of her patients. One of our staff members had a cardiac arrest in our office. Maureen took total charge of the situation; she directed all staff and did CPR for 10 minutes until the ambulance arrived. She thought of our colleague and her family and kept going. Her leadership skill and perseverance saved our colleagues life.

One of our Anticoagulation Staff nurses was struck ill during work. Maureen took control of the code situation, directed staff, performed CPR and maintained a calm atmosphere throughout the emergency. The clinics business day continued and all staff, although shaken by the incident and concerned for their co-worker's health, were able to continue to provide care for their patients. Maureen did an outstanding job with emergency resources available in our outpatient setting.

I have known Maureen for a long time, both as a coworker and having personal experience in the ER with myself and family members as patients. Recently at work in Anticoag one of our nurses had cardiac arrest and she was first on scene, initiated CPR, delegated roles to our co-workers in a professional caring respectful manner. Our colleague is well today because of Maureen. She is a very caring compassionate nurse.

Maureen Sawyer is a very compassionate, caring, and competent nurse who exemplifies the Lahey Way. Recently, one of our colleagues collapsed and required CPR. Maureen took control of the situation; made sure everyone knew their roll and performed CPR until the ambulance arrived. Maureen was focused on making sure the atmosphere remained calm during such a stressful situation. After this episode, Maureen was able to focus on taking care of her patients for the rest of the day. She is very professional and demonstrated leadership in a critical situation. Our colleague is home today and, is well thanks to the quick actions by Maureen.
