Mark was my mom's nurse for two shifts after she arrived at SRM. He is a good listener and is very kind and compassionate. He quickly learned a lot about my mom, not just her medical conditions but about her as a person. He took a lot of time to explain to me what was going on and made sure I understood. He helped me to realize the care mom will need in the future. My mom has had a recent decline in her cognitive skills and Mark seemed like he knew a lot about this. He was reassuring and helpful. I work in the ED at another hospital so I work with a lot of doctors and nurses. Mark is most definitely a role model for what nurses should be like. I don't think Mark will ever lose his compassion and empathy. He is always very professional.

We would like to nominate Mark for the DAISY Award as he has provided our dad with compassion, patience and respect. He was always available to our dad. He would check in, listen to his stories and developed a rapport with a man who does not like hospitals nor most people in the healthcare field. He taught our dad to trust and this is something that could not be done without teaching him about his body, procedures, medication and simply being there to develop the relationship. We are thankful for his commitment and dedication to our dad and feel he represents what a genuine, caring nurse should be. Thank you!
