On November 3rd our Unit, 7 East, had a very unfortunate code. But in the midst of what seemed like the longest, worst, emotional, crazy and stressful day, it was amazing to see the team, which consisted of respiratory therapy, doctors, nurses, and a nurse from another floor, working together for the greater good. This code didn't just last the 40 minutes that she was down, this code lasted, for us, the entire shift. We all felt the ripple effect from what happened that morning.

The rest of the day the team maintained an outward appearance of calmness and continued to take care of everyone on the floor like nothing had ever happened. I truly don't know if I can express in words how amazing everyone was and what it meant to have them beside me.

Poor Maggie, she was simply floating to us to help out and we created a day that she will never forget! Maggie was amazing!!!! She was thrown into the middle of everything and you would never have known that she was not a 7 East seasoned vet. I didn't feel like I was working with just some nurse from another floor, I felt like she was one of the 7 East core staff. She recorded, helped move, asked if we were ok, then on top of everything else that was going on, volunteered to take the next admission that happened to be a DNR that was supposedly end of life!!!! Who does that!!!???!!!

I truly don't know what we would have done if she wasn't a part of our team that day! She is an amazing nurse, that is evident, but for me she was my support, backbone and rock. She never wavered, never complained and never quit smiling.
