From a coworker:

Kristen exemplifies all the qualities we hope to see in a critical care nurse. She is focused, organized, and completely devoted to the care of her patients. She's a delight to work with, available to help her team members and often has a unique and special relationship with her patient's families. She has an unending capacity for compassion and is one of the most requested nurses on our staff.

From a family member:

When my father was initially admitted, Kristen was one of the first to care for him. Even then, we were impressed by her technical expertise as well as her character. After moving to several rooms on multiple floors over the course of almost half a year, we have encountered an excellent nursing staff on each occasion. Yet even among these peers, she stands out as an exceptional nurse.

She noticed my father was having trouble sleeping at night and was tired during the day. She created a schedule for medications, breathing treatments, vitals, etc. in order to synchronize them to allow my father to get as much rest as possible. She got approval from the lead nurse, immediately implemented the plan and notified all other parties involved. Her care not only helped my father but the rest of the family as well.

She would fulfill any requests and answer all questions we had, especially my mom. My mother would enter the hospital room in an anxious state but would leave more calm and relaxed after interacting with Kristen, having her explain the procedures in detail and putting her concerns to rest.

She also takes time out of her schedule to visit my father. Both before her shift begins and after it ends, she will still visit my father in his current room and relay encouraging words to him and our family. She has even come to visit in her "civilian" clothes on days when she isn't working.

From the wife of the patient:

My husband had surgery for cancer and a very complicated recovery. Kristen was one of many well qualified ICU day shift RNs who took care of him during the two months in the ICU and she is the most caring person I have ever experienced. She always answered all my questions whether medical or personal. She suggested to physicians to reschedule his daily treatment plan so he could rest better at night. He was moved from ICU to other units. She visited him whenever she had a chance, after work or during breaks. If there is any reward for best RN, I definitely recommend Kristen who always loves her job at TMMC. I'll never forget her kind care and I'll remember TMMC as the best hospital where this nurse shared her warm heart to patients.
