After being here for 3 days, no clear diagnosis had been made. All my tests were negative, but I felt just as ill as I had on admission through the Emergency Department. The Hospitalist was considering discharging me, pending clearance from my Cardiologist. I expressed my frustration with the situation, as well as my fears of returning home just as ill as I had come in to my nurse, Kimberly Passarelli. She was very considerate and told me that she would contact my doctor with my concerns. She returned a short while later to let me know that the Hospitalist had decided to keep me an additional night for further testing the next day.

That evening, my cardiologist spent a long while discussing the stress echo results from earlier that day, then reevaluated the symptoms that I had been experiencing for the past 3 weeks and had finally brought me to the ED. With new details, he decided to try a new medication that night and perform and EGD the following day. The new medication ended up stopping my chest pain. Without her intervention, this would not have happened and I would have gone home ill...and most likely have returned again.

Kimberly was compassionate and attentive my entire stay. Since I was NPO most of my stay because of testing, she always made sure I had something to eat when I returned. My wife is disabled and stayed with me the whole time. Kimberly made sure that she received a guest tray. She took the extra time to resecure my IV properly, so that I wouldn't end up having to be restuck.

I am very grateful for Kimberly's care, she helped change the outcome of my stay. She is an asset to this hospital staff.
