I would like to express my greatest thanks and appreciation to the entire staff at LGH Behavioral Health for their professionalism, kindness, and eagerness to help, but more specifically to my nurse practitioner, Kevin P. Kalnoski, CRNP. As a medical professional myself, I know first hand that not all illnesses are physiological in nature, requiring an ICU nurse with IV in hand but rather some illnesses just as severe and urgent, are matters of the heart and mind and for this, a proficient and compassionate nurse is also needed.

I walked into Kevin's office as a last resort with my life in shambles and a distraught spirit due to life-altering circumstances beyond my control. His warm and cheerful personality quickly put me at ease and allowed me to trust him immediately. I went down my list of hardships while Kevin listened intently and patiently, without passing judgment. He made intelligent suggestions and helped me formulate a successful plan of action while taking my considerations into account. He became a faithful, steady and compassionate guidance, holding me accountable every step of the way. His clinical expertise was evident in his sensitivity and guarded reserve to prescribe pharmaceuticals, carefully trying different medications and doses as it became appropriate. Today, he continues to monitor my progress and has become an integral part of my professional support system. I will continue to recommend Kevin, to many others in need because of his strong commitment to provide high quality patient care.

My family and I will be eternally grateful for his genuine efforts to help us overcome our obstacles. I don't know where we'd be today, if not for Kevin's attention, caring attitude, professionalism and devotion to me which began on that initial visit to his office. I thought my life was over but his compassionate personality helped me realize that a new chapter was just beginning, and that I should in fact, continue striving.

Kevin, you will receive your ultimate reward in heaven for helping not only me but my little family, but until then I can only thank you from the bottom of my heart and I know I speak for many of your patients when I say, that Kevin, you are an exceptional nurse and and an even more exceptional human being. And thus, I nominate you for the DAISY Award. I'm very confident LGH is proud to have you on their team!

Kevin, continue transforming lives with the important work you do, because remember, not all emergencies happen in an ICU or trauma unit; some emergencies, just as urgent, happen to walk right into your office.
