Kelley was nominated for going out of her way to "ensure patients are cared for, feel special, safe, protected and appreciated." A patient wrote a letter describing how she alleviated his fears when he had cardiac symptoms.

Kelley "held my hand and told me to look in her eyes. She squeezed my hand and said, you'll be okay, I promise you,'" the patient wrote. "With those words, that touch and that look of confidence, she lifted the weight of my fears off me, and I began to relax. I will remember her as long as I live. She is a true professional, an asset to your hospital, and an angel to me."

Two Emergency Department nurses also praised Kelley for helping them during a busy shift. Kelley held and comforted a crying baby boy transferred from another hospital until his parents arrived.

A PICU nurse also nominated Kelley for helping them during a stressful morning. The PICU received 2 very critically injured children- sisters- from a car accident. Kelley came to the unit to help the staff, even staying long after her shift to ensure that all was under control. This meant so much to the PICU staff- to have that helping/healing hand at their time of need.
