On Christmas Eve, Jen was getting her two little children ready for mass. At that time, she had no idea she was about to save a life. Jen tried to keep her two young children occupied as they sat in the pew of St. Francis church waiting for mass to start. Suddenly, the priest walked down the center aisle asking if there was a doctor in the house. No one responded. Jen, a Saint Clare's Sussex ED nurse, quickly handed off her children and ran to the scene to assist. There was alot of commotion, Jen quickly assessed the parishioner and initiated life-saving CPR. Taking control of the situation, she asked another parishioner to call 911. She performed CPR for six minutes, and defibrillated the patient. The patient was air-lifted to Morristown and we later learned he had a triple bypass. He went to the perfect place on Christmas Eve because Jen was there and ready to respond quickly to an emergency, as always. Jennifer Radell is honored with the DAISY Award for giving the ultimate Christmas gift, the gift of life!
