Jennifer Kiser, RN, is an excellent example of an Extraordinary Nurse for many reasons. She demonstrates persevering benevolence to her patients, their families, and her colleagues consistently, not only as a Staff Nurse but also as a Team Leader. She advocates for her patients' essential needs and comfort, promoting a positive patient experience by implementing Premier Health's Core Values of respect, integrity, compassion and excellence routinely.

Jenny goes above and beyond normal expectations. She is clever and intuitive about anticipating the needs of her patients as a nurse caregiver, as well as the necessities of her staff as a Team Leader. She is knowledgeable and resourceful. Whenever I have a question or concern, she provides objective guidance with kindness, discretion, and clarity. I can recall many recent occasions when I have felt overloaded managing nursing tasks with multiple patients, and realize later that she voluntarily assisted a client to the bathroom, delivered a meal tray, replenished IV fluids or beverages, processed an admission, or provided necessary education to a patient for a new medication or disease process. Additionally, her leadership is remarkable by promoting accountability in all aspects of nursing expectations.

I would like to share one example of how Jenny has impacted me with her exemplary and admirable nursing care with our patients. Recently, I assumed an assignment in which Jenny had been responsible for the day prior but was now the appointed Team Leader. A particular patient had undergone a biopsy in which the results were pending the remainder of Jenny's shift the previous day. As I was completing some documentation that morning, Jenny gave me an envelope enclosed with a letter and requested with sincere emotion that I give it to this patient because they reminded her of a close family member. Later that day, after the doctor informed this patient that the biopsy result was positive for cancer, I went into this patient's room to discuss their diagnosis and how they wished to proceed with their plan of care. During our interaction, I gave them Jenny's letter and relayed what Jenny had asked me to say. The patient's response, "She (Jenny) was so sensitive and kind to me yesterday. I really appreciated each moment she took to answer my questions, address my concerns, and provide for my many endless needs. Tell her I said, thank you!"

Thank you, Jenny, for being an extraordinary compassionate nurse and leader to our patients and to myself. I appreciate you for Making the Most of Each Moment!
