I came in on Tuesday night in immense pain. I knew the next couple of days were going to be extremely challenging just because of my last experience at the hospital; all the poking and prodding in the wee hours of the morning, lack of sleep because of tests needing to be run. I was so not wanting to come but my husband convinced me otherwise. He told me I would be taken care of there, people knew what they were doing.

You (Janice) greeted me with just the kindest, caring, loving smile like I was the only person you were concerned about at the time. To see that type of gentleness and sensitivity, I knew at least for the night I was going to be okay. The way you helped settle me in my room and helped my husband become comfortable so he could stay the night meant more than words can ever say. As hours seemed to drag on for what appeared like days and the pain and nausea had increased; you continued to check on me through the night. You made me feel safe and as comfortable as possible.

I feel like I could go on forever expressing my words of appreciation to you for treating me like a human and not as a patient. For seeing me for whom I am and not what my illness seemed to present itself as. However verbose this little note is, it can never truly articulate the gratefulness in my heart and let you know how genuinely wonderful you are as a person and at the job you do!
