We just want to thank everyone on the St. Joseph's staff who involved in care for my husband in July. We especially want your administration to pay special attention to Hannah Ives, RN who provided care for my husband on Sunday, July 13, 2014 while he stayed on the ER Observation Unit. Hannah provided excellent care in a calm reassuring fashion. While doing her nursing assessment she asked excellent questions getting the information needed for him to get the best possible treatment while in the hospital and making plans for follow-up care. Hannah was able to observe her patient even as she typed into the computer, a skill we've not witnessed much since computers have been the focus of documentation in the medical arena. She was proficient in her physical examination skills and definitely interested in her patient's family members.

Hannah answered all our questions about medication and the current medical condition even though she sometimes needed to gather more information before answering. She was very conscientious about returning to the bedside as soon as an answer was determined. Before leaving the bedside Hannah would always ask if there was anything else we needed, this being a commendable quality for a nurse. When there were concerns about possible increase in side-effects of a second dose of heparin she checked back frequently to be sure everything was going well. For the entire day we observed her ability to anticipate needs of her patients and willingness to follow through with what she said she was going to do. For my husband she was especially willing to check with the doctor about when they would be coming to the unit to discuss discharge plans.

Before we left the hospital we verbally thanked Hannah and the other nursing staff on duty for the care they provided. With this letter we wanted to be sure you know how pleased were about the services provided by your hospital, especially the care from Hannah Ives, RN.
