Erin took care of our pre-term baby born at 25 weeks. She would always make sure we understood everything that the doctors would tell us during rounds. I watched her take over for a nurse that had T that day and her oxygen saturation had been in the 80s and she adjusted her just a little and her levels went up to the 90s in seconds. She volunteered to work a couple of days when they were short staff so someone who knew T would have her when she was doing really bad. T was a very sick baby and that would send stress levels skyrocketing and Erin would sit with me for a little while to help calm me down.
She would do research when she got home, trying to figure out what was going on with her. Another nurse told us that. She went on vacation and called to check on her. At the end, she was able to keep T alive so I could get to the hospital so that I could hold her as she passed away. She came to T's memorial service, and we live about 45 minutes from the hospital. She helped us get some information about places to get grief counseling for our 5-year-old who is having some trouble dealing with his sister passing away. She's keeping in touch with me to make sure I'm doing ok. We love and appreciate everything she did for our family.
